Set Up Your GNOME Session!

Nowadays, almost all GNU/Linux distros already supported with hibernate feature and u can activate this feature by clicking on Log Out button from Main Menu. Besides, GNU/Linux also provide another feature called Sessions. It’s rather different from Hibernate. “Sessions” saves what’s application you used and made “note” so that you can “call” it easily when you turn on your PC.
Before you can use this feature (I will use Linux Mint with GNOME for example and if you love KDE I will talk about it later), you must activate it. Just click on Mint Menu and type “sessions” or just “sess” then click on Session Shortcut.

You will see a window Sessions. Please click on tab “Session Option” and give check on “Automatically remember running applications when logging out”. Then just click close.

Pay attention that not all applications have ability to be included on Sessions. I have tried some applications can be included on Sessions like GEdit, AmaroK Music Player, Nautilus File Manager, Opera Web Browser etc. I think there are still many applications you can try on Sessions and you will see which one are “Session Ready”. Try to load as many as possible applications before you turn off your PC and let’s see which applications can reloaded automatically on your next log in.
Sessions is suitable for everyone who want to make their time efficient because they shouldn’t load one by one applications they need, everytime they need them. But if you use portable PC a.k.a. Notebook, it’s better if you are using Hibernate rather than using Sessions because Hibernate can save your battery lifetime.
