Linux Mint Code Name (Behind the Scene)
Sejak awal memang aku gak gitu pay attention on code name used in Linux Mint releases. Maklum aja, I began using Linux Mint in its version 3.1 with code name Celena. I thought that Linux Mint developer just like Ubuntu developer who used a code name for its “products”. Ya it just because Linux Mint known as derivation of Ubuntu (but with full audio video CODEC) so it has similarities on many things.
Belakangan I knew that code name used on Linux Mint sounds like a girl name (lebih tepatnya maybe feminine code name I thought). I became more penasaran ketika masuk versi 5 code name Elyssa. So, I tried searching the code names before it. Finally I got the answer and it’s like something yang diurutkan based on alphabet and end with “a”. Why? Here is the answer:
Pay attention on Linux Mint code name below
- Linux Mint 1.0 code name AurorA
- Linux Mint 2.1 code name BeA
- Linux Mint 2.2 code name BiancA
- Linux Mint 3.0 code name CassandrA
- Linux Mint 3.1 code name CelenA
- Linux Mint 4.0 code name DarynA
- Linux Mint 5.0 code name ElyssA
Can you find the answer? Yeah, it’s ordered by with its code name. First letter is A and its version is 1.0 (aurorA). First letter is B and its version is 2.1 (beA). First letter is B and its version is 2.2 (biancA). First letter is C and its version is 3.0 (cassandrA) etc. Maybe it just simple thing but it’s quite interesting for me. I hope Linux Mint will be better in the future!
